Event Review: The event was held at the impressive Maldron Hotel,
Cardiff within a private room and bar. The excellent three course meal was
followed by Steve Fenwick a seasoned player of 30 caps for wales who also
won caps for the British Lions.
Although Steve was of a generation before my time, his whit and stories of
past players and events brought the room to laughter and left me with an
affinity with those players from the golden years of Welsh Rugby.
The event took an interlude while those with tickets attended the game,
leaving lose without with an opportunity to continue to enjoy the cosy informal
atmosphere of the event to watch a huge television screen.
We enjoyed the match and with Wales winning, we returned to the hospitality
suite, where we again enjoyed the atmosphere and buzz within the room.
Several guests took the opportunity to enjoy the curry and chips served within
the first floor lively bar.
Although my rugby roots begin in the 90’s, I would recommend this event to
anyone who is a fan of rugby and would like to experience ‘something
different’ on match day without breaking the bank. For me, the event was a
treat and one I am looking forward to visiting again soon.
May I thank the organisers for a great hospitality day in Cardiff. Best wishes...
Mathew Boswell - Penygroes RFC.
“This was a great
opportunity to meet
my boyhood hero
‘Steve Fenwick’.
Growing up in the
seventies, I loved to
steve run with the
ball at defences, I
remember the
atmosphere rise
when he did this -
what a player from
my era and great to
see how funny and
humble a person he
was in life”

“I really enjoyed this
relaxed and informal
event, I was a little
worried that I was
underdressed before the
event, but did not want to wear a suit or be formal. So I was in my element to
see like-minded supporters dressed smart but casual for the game. This was a
far more enjoyable and affordable event than other formal events I have
attended on matchdays. Both Steve Fenwick and Mark Titley were funny
speakers and reflected on past games between Wales and Scotland and
offered up a range of stories about what went on behind the scenes - really
funny and enjoyable afternoon” - superb - Alun Davies
“First thing is , we enjoyed!!
...the food was very good, the wine was very good and the service was also
very good. John and I thought the screen was great and we’ll be there for the
French match, the girls were downstairs in the bar and they were looked after
very well by the staff there and later they were seen dancing to the live singer
with a couple of hairy, kilted Scotsman!! So our verdict is, we had a “Fun” day
out - Thanks again!” Ray Murray.
“A good day was had by all! - Good venue, clean facilities, good food, good
value for money, close and intimate with speakers. General comments from
our party a number preferred your day to others we had run over previous
years and I have received numerous thanks and praise today.”
- Steve Jones - Blackwood
Our Scheduled speaker Mervyn Davies was ill and
unable to attend, may we take this opportunity to thank
Steve Fenwick for stepping in at the last moment.
